Mobile robots: the fundamentals

Batteries and charging

Every Jiangsong robot runs on lithium iron phosphate, with a cycle life of 1,500 to 2,000 cycles: safer than ternary lithium, and lighter, faster to charge and maintenance-free compared with lead acid. Running time is generally at least 8 hours; small models charge fully within an hour and a half, medium and large models within two hours.

When the battery runs low the robot returns to a charger by itself and goes back to work once charged; charging can also be scheduled for shift changes and breaks, or done by hand. The 1-tonne lifting series also supports fast charging: 10 minutes of charge gives an hour of running, and 60 minutes brings the battery to 70%.

Monthly Fully charge and discharge the battery once.
Long-term storage Keep the charge at about 50% and switch off at the key; check it regularly during storage and top it up to about 50% if it falls below.
Replacement and recycling Lithium battery packs are assessed for replacement after more than 2 years or 1,500 to 2,000 charge cycles; the system tracks battery health and alerts you as replacement approaches. Removed packs must go through a licensed recycler.
